First blog of 2013 and its May??

OH my, blogging has gotten away from me yet again. I do try.The past four months have been full of things you'd rather not write in a blog...hospital stays, ambulance rides, pain pills just to get you to your next appointment. But since it has been so long, I have severe Crohn's disease, and we have already started "digging through the rabbit hold" as my GI says and I've had a bowel resection which was in February and very scary. Up until that point I had had 4 separate complete bowel obstructions, and they couldn't figure out why. The treatment they were giving me for the Lupus they thought I had was masking my Crohn's symptoms. But I have to say that in between my four hospitalizations, I ran a 10K( 1 hour 5 minutes) and a half marathon (2 hours 30 minutes). I then started my chemotherapy - called remicade. Its supposed to keep my immune system from attacking my stomach. After my surgery, well, it looks like its finally doing its job. Its not without risks though. On remicade I have acquired pneumonia twice, antibiotics don't work, sinus infections, and most recently and sadly, the shingles virus, which causes more pain in my left arm then I want to admit. There is also a large probability that I will need a hysterectomy. It seems that my endrometrial lining is infiltrating my small bowel, making the whole disease process a bit of a mess. We will know the answer come Monday. Answers come slow, but good doctors have long waiting lists. Thankfully, ours haven't been too far or too long. There are some days the fatigue is terrible and I am unable to function. There are other days I feel like super woman. I'd like to say its all about choice, at least it used to be, but its not. It really is about what my body can handle each and every day. If I haven't mentioned Spencer in this post I should - he IS my iron man. God bless him. He's seen his share of pain, gore and problems. He's made calls that no husband should have to make on his wife. I am blessed and grateful that our love for each other is as strong as it is.
